Boy Scout Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge Clinic

RIVER RUNNERS
Boy Scout Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge Clinic

Boy Scout Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge class on the Arkansas River in Colorado.
River Runners has guided thousands of Boy Scouts down the Arkansas River through the years and many of our guides were Scouts themselves, so it is part of our heritage. In 2006 we developed the Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge Clinic to provide a safe and constructive learning environment for troops that want to learn more about the sport of whitewater rafting in Colorado.
This awareness-level whitewater clinic is roughly two hours and is conducted at the River Runners Riverside Rafting Resort. It covers both the dangers of playing in flooded waterways, and how to enjoy whitewater recreation with the proper equipment, training and supervision. Other topics include river hazards, river features, classifications of rapids, basic rescue skills and basic navigation. Each Scout will have an opportunity to navigate an inflatable kayak in and out of the current, swim in the river and practice using a throw rope.
$100 Boy Scout Merit Badge Clinic for up to 10 Scouts
- Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge Clinics must be booked with either a half day or full day Browns Canyon whitewater rafting trip
- A separate Basic CPR and First Aid certification is required to complete the Whitewater Rafting Merit Badge – this can be done before or after the River Runners clinic, but is not included
- Signed blue cards will be provided upon completion of the clinic and the Browns Canyon whitewater rafting trip
- All River Runners Boy Scout counselors are certified guide instructors and have completed the Boy Scouts of America Youth Protection and Safety Afloat e-learning courses
- Browns Canyon is the perfect introductory whitewater rafting trip for Boy Scouts
- Each raft will include an experienced guide who will provide instruction plus historical and environmental interpretation
- Enjoy breathtaking canyon scenery of granite cliffs, pine trees, cactus and 14,000 foot peaks
