Launch Date: June 4-8, 2008
Dinosaur National Monument is a place like no other. Virtually untouched, this is one of the most pristine areas in the Nation filled with wildlife and exciting Whitewater Rivers.
Geological formations in Dinosaur National Monument are extremely unique and offer great natural places to experience live music.
Adrift Adventures, a concessionaire for the National Park Service since 1980, hosts a Bluegrass Music river trip on the Yampa River each year to reacquaint rafters with the sounds of traditional Bluegrass music through the natural mystical beauty of the Yampa River. Nestled in natural alcoves are remarkable amphitheaters along the river, offering wonderful places to listen to traditional bluegrass music.
The Yampa River is one of the last major free-flowing rivers in the Colorado River system. The rocks along the river curve around in amazing twists and bends that seemingly soar up from the rivers edge, up to 2,000 feet. The river hosts over 40 intermediate to advanced rapids along with one of the big drops of the West: Warm Springs Rapid (Class IV-V).
Each day, as you make your way downstream, you are able to take-in the Yampa’s beauty, often spotting Bighorn Sheep strolling along the rivers edge and endangered Eagles soaring overhead.
At camp, you may explore hiking trails, historic sites or relax and listen to the music of the band while watching the river flow by. This is the way to vacation! With no one in sight, you are truly able to loose yourself in the rivers mystery.
Participants receive a convenient all-inclusive package which includes deliciously catered meals, transportation to/from the Adrift office at the entrance to Dinosaur National Monument, all rafting safety equipment and experienced guides plus a lively Bluegrass band.
