Arkansas River Rafting
Advanced overnight whitewater rafting in Colorado is sure to be the highlight of your vacation. Start at our Riverside Rafting Resort in Buena Vista, Colorado located on the Arkansas River. This is just a short drive from many Colorado vacation destinations. Meals, group camping equipment, a personal dry bag and rafting gear included. Tents, sleeping bags and sleeping pads are available for rent through River Runners.

Know before you book
- Previous whitewater rafting experience recommended, but not required for this overnight rafting trip.
- Participants should be at least 16 years old for this advanced rafting trip (varies with water level).
- All participants should be able to swim and be in good physical condition.
- Risk is involved with all whitewater rafting trips – you and everyone in your party must be willing to accept that risk.
- All participants must read and sign a waiver – minors under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.
Day One – Advanced Overnight Rafting on the Arkansas River
Includes lunch and dinner.
Arrive at the River Runners Riverside Rafting Resort at 8:30 am and check in with the front office. Be sure that everyone in your group has read and signed the waver and release form, then meet your guide and pack all of your personal camping gear into dry bags. A gear boater will take your gear to camp and set up while you’re on the river.
Then travel a few miles north of Buena Vista to the put-in for The Numbers section of the Arkansas River. After a safety orientation and paddle talk, experience some of Colorado’s most continuous class IV-V whitewater. Stop for a catered riverside lunch prepared by your guide, and continue through The Narrows and into Browns Canyon until you reach your secluded camp. You will have plenty of time to enjoy this remote camping destination. Fish, swim, hike or simply relax by the camp fire. Your guides will cook, clean and share their knowledge of the surrounding area’s history, wildlife and geology. You can just relax and enjoy an evening.
Day Two – Advanced Overnight Rafting on the Arkansas River
Includes breakfast and lunch. Morning will bring hot coffee and breakfast. Relax or explore while your guides clean up, tear down the kitchen and load the gear onto the rafts. Enjoy another day on the Arkansas River in Browns Canyon with some of the best intermediate white water in Colorado. This trip can depart any day of the week as long as you have at least four people in your group. Please call to join an existing trip.
What to Wear Rafting in Colorado

You should wear synthetic fabric clothing (avoid cotton), sandals that strap around your foot or an old pair of tennis shoes, a hat, a strap for your eye glasses or sun glasses (available for purchase), quick dry swimsuits or board shorts.
Wetsuits, splash tops and booties are available for rent at River Runners.
Apply plenty of sunscreen and reapply throughout the day.
Guides, rafts, PFDs, helmets and paddles are included.
This is a trip you can’t miss if you are in Colorado. Browns Cannon is beautiful, and River Runners is the only company that has a launch site right on the river, and a camp site as well if you want to setup a base there. We have rafted with them on multiple occasions. They are wonderful, we had so much fun.
First time rafter (but previously a kayaker/canoe-er) and had a BLAST. We were the first of 3 boats with guide Erika (she and her identical, and also dread-locked twin both work at River Runners). Erika was maybe 90 pounds but damn if she didn’t kick the river’s a**!
The Best! These guys are so awesome! The guides really take their time to show you how to paddle and throw in some history about the river. For the best white water experience go when the water is around 1000+ c.f.s. The river takes you through awesome rock features, and then you eddy out to jump off rocks into the water! Best time this summer. Period.
